The Role We’re hiring a Tech Lead to guide our engineering practice and work hands-on with the team to build scalable, high-impact solutions. Reporting to the CTO and working closely with product and design, you’ll turn real-world customer problems into elegant, secure, and reliable technology. You’ll love this role if you: • Are currently a senior engineer, tech lead, principal engineer, or similar looking for a great new opportunity • Enjoy technical & product thinking and solving real-world problems • Like leading by example and mentoring others • Want to help scale a fast-growing startup doing meaningful work Key Responsibilities • Lead technical design, implementation, and delivery across the product • Be hands-on in the codebase while mentoring and unblocking other engineers • Work closely with leadership to shape and prioritise the roadmap • Contribute to architectural decisions and system design • Ensure quality, security, and performance standards are upheld • Support sprint planning, backlog grooming, and team rituals • Champion engineering best practices across the team • Collaborate with enterprise customers and partners when needed What We’re Looking For • 4 years in senior engineering or tech lead roles • A strong background in software development (hands-on) • Proficiency with AWS and modern cloud infrastructure • Solid experience with TypeScript • Experience mentoring engineers and fostering high-performing teams • Strong understanding of software architecture and system design • Experience in start-up/scale-up environments Bonus Points For • Experience in payments or financial services • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, etc.) • Experience with APIs, payment gateways, and third-party integrations • Exposure to serverless and AWS Lambda • Comfortable working with large enterprise partners or customers More About Us We’re a remote-first team of 17, based across Sydney, Melbourne, and Tasmania.
